Privacy Policy
- Introduction
This Privacy Policy outlines how Ocean Wind Services AS, a company located in Norway, collects and processes personal data when you visit and use our website, www.oceanwindservices.com. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws. - Data Collection
We collect and process the following personal data on our website:
– IP Addresses: We collect your IP address through the Wordfence plugin to help secure our website from potential threats. Wordfence stores the IP addresses of users to detect brute force and DDoS attacks. It sets three different cookies for this.
– We use Independent Analytics for tracking views, visitors, referrers, and the approximate location of our visitors. Independent Analytics is a GDPR-friendly website analytics plugin which is GDPR compliant. - Lawful Basis
The legal basis for processing your IP addresses is based on the legitimate interest pursued by Ocean Wind Services in protecting our website against attacks and ensuring its security. Ref. section 6 subsection 1(f) GDPR.
We are gathering analytical data about visits to the website to help us to understand where visitors are located. We can then use this data to help improve our services. - Data Storage
For the Wordfence plugin :
– IP addresses that are classified as harmless are placed on a whitelist. Dubious IP addresses are placed on a blacklist. The IP addresses are stored in the database on our server. The data is processed in real-time for security purposes only.
For the Independent Analytics plugin :
– The Independent Analytics plugin does not use cookies, does not store personally identifiable information, and data is created and stored entirely on our server.
Independent Analytics uses the visitor’s IP address to get an approximate location, then encrypts the IP and saves the resulting ID to the database. This anonymized ID is used to recognize subsequent visits.
